Some owners have reported issues with rattling from the centre console area, mainly from the trim surrounding the gearlever, and from the boot locking mechanism. Also, there have been reported problems with the sat-nav screen, which rises out of the dashboard and can creak in use. Water pumps have also been reported to leak, and the S3 has been rated poorly for headlight bulb failure. Issues with the fuel pump cam follower wearing have also been reported, and the oil breather valve can stick. Listen for rattling from the manual gearbox, and make sure oil and filters have been changed every 40,000 miles on the S Tronic automatic versions. Check the condition of the brake pads and discs, as these can erode with heavy use.Any S3 will have been used enthusiastically, so make sure there are no dents and dings in the bodywork and check the underside of the car for any off-road activity. Systemets ventilerade och perforerade bromsskivor mäter 375×36 mm fram och 310×22 mm bak. Det gör att de är större och stabilare än de på den förra modellen. Luftstyrningsdetaljer sänker bromsarnas nedkylningstid med 20%. Det gör att de snabbare kan få ner topptemperaturerna vid hårda inbromsningar samtidigt som pedalkänslan förblir oförändrad. Den effektiva kylningen minskar också slitaget på bromsbeläggen, som är 15% större och kopparfria. Som standard är de svarta. Den femcylindriga högprestandamotorn gör Audi RS 3 till något alldeles unikt i sitt segment. 2.5 TFSI har vunnit titeln ”International Engine of the Year” hela nio gånger i rad! I sin senaste generation är motorn kraftfullare än någonsin. De nya RS 3-modellerna gör 0 till 100 på 3,8 sekunder. Toppfarten är i båda fallen begränsad till 250 km/h, men som tillval kan den uppgraderas till 280 km/h. Med RS dynamikpaket och keramiska bromsar kan de båda varianterna dessutom nå en topphastighet på 290 km/h. Det gör Audi RS 3 bäst i klassen, både när det gäller acceleration och topphastighet. Främst beror det på det maximala vridmomentet på hela 500 Nm som finns tillgängligt i varvtalsområdet från 2,250 till 5,600 varv/min. Vridmomentet har därmed höjts med 20 Nm jämfört med den förra modellen. Resultatet är att Audi RS 3 accelererar ännu snabbare från lägre varvtal. Motorns toppeffekt på 400 hk finns tillgänglig tidigare än innan, vid 5.600 varv/min, och sträcker sig över en bred platå ända till 7.000 varv/min. Genom att låta de olika drivkomponenterna kommunicera med varandra, bidrar även den nya motorstyrningen till att höja hastigheten. Nya RS 3 har en blandad förbrukning enligt WLTP på 9,0-9,1 l/100 km för RS 3 Sportback respektive 8,9-9,0 l/100 km för RS 3 Sedan med CO2-utsläpp på 205-207 g/km respektive 203-204 g/km. Även invändigt hittar vi många RS-specifika detaljer som förstärker den sportiga utstrålningen. Det digitala kombiinstrumentet Audi virtual cockpit plus (12,3”) är standard. Här visas motorvarvtalet i form av ett stapeldiagram, och effekt och vridmoment som procent. Varvräknaren kan även fås i nya designen ”RS Runway”. Värdena visas här i omvänd riktning på ett sätt som påminner om landningsbanan på en flygplats – med högsta varvtal i förgrunden och det lägsta i bakgrunden. Audi virtual cockpit plus har även displayer för g-krafterna, varvtider, samt accelerationen från 0-100, 0-200, en kvarts mile och en åttondels mile.

Audi RS 3 har fått en ännu mer dynamisk utstrålning jämfört med sin föregångare. Fronten präglas av breda RS-stötfångare, stora luftintag och nydesignad single frame-grill med tydligt bikakemönster. RS 3 är som standard utrustad med kilformade LED-strålkastare och med LED-baklyktor med dynamiska blinkers (rinnande ljus). Som tillval finns Matrix LED-strålkastare med digitala varselljus. Med sitt pixelfält på 3×5 LED-segment, ger de bilen en unik look. När man låser upp eller låser bilen lyser en dynamisk ljussignatur med RS 3 i skrift på förarsidan och en målflagg på den andra. Vid körning är den svartvitrutiga flaggan tänd på båda sidorna.Även bakom de främre hjulhusen hittar vi ett nytt designelement, här i form av ett extra luftutsläpp som är rena blickfånget. Spårvidden fram har breddats med 33 mm jämfört med den förra modellen. På Sportback har spårvidden bak vuxit med 10 mm. RS 3 är som standard utrustad med gjutna 19″-fälgar med 10-ekrad Y-design. För en ännu vassare racinglook finns 5-ekrade Y-designfälgar och RS-logo. För första gången erbjuder Audi nu också på Pirelli P Zero ”Trofeo R” performance semi-slick-däck. I Sverige erbjuds de som tillbehör. Till de motorsportinfluerade detaljerna hör också den omdesignade, RS-specifika bakre stötfångaren med sin integrerade diffusor, och RS-avgassystemet som mynnar ut i två stora, ovala ändrör.Den RS-specifika, blinkande växlingsindikatorn (i manuellt växlingsläge), växlar färg på varvräknaren från grönt till gult till rött och blinkar på precis samma sätt som i tävlingsbilar för att indikera den idealiska tidpunkten att växla. Pekskärmen (10,1″) innehåller en s.k. ”RS Monitor” som visar kylar-, motor- och växellådsoljetemperaturerna samt även trycket i däcken. En annan nyhet i Audi RS 3 är Head-up-displayen (HUD) som projicerar upp växlingsindikatorn och annan viktig information direkt på vindrutan, i förarens synfält. Audi-koncernen avslutade räkenskapsåret 2022 med ett rekordresultat under ett år då företaget fortsatte sin omställning mot att bli en ledande leverantör av uppkopplad, helt elektrisk premiummobilitet. Omsättningen steg med 16,4 procent till rekordhöga 61,8 miljarder euro samtidigt som rörelseresultatet steg med nästan 40 procent till rekordhöga 7,6 miljarder euro. Rörelsemarginalen steg till 12,2 procent och nettokassaflödet nådde 4,8 miljarder euro, den näst högsta siffran i företagets historia. Nyckelfaktorer bakom årets starka finansiella resultat var, en konsekvent krishantering under ett år präglat av många globala utmaningar, en bra prisposition och starka resultat från Bentley, Lamborghini och Ducati. Under 2022 ökade även antalet helt eldrivna modeller kraftigt. Med början i Q6 e-tron startar Audi under 2023 dessutom den största produktoffensiven i företagets historia. Audi Q6 e-tron är den första eldrivna modellen som baseras på Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Den större cambervinkeln (dvs. att hjulen är vinklade mer mot vägen), resulterar i en mer precis styrrespons och högre kurvtagningskraft. Jämfört med Audi A3, har framhjulen på nya RS 3 en negativ cambervinkel som är strax under 1 grad större. För att åstadkomma detta, har svängtappslagren modifierats och de undre länkarmarna försetts med styvare bussningar, subramar och krängningshämmare. Upphängningen bak är fyrlänkad med separata fjädrar/dämpare, subram och en ihålig krängningshämmare. Hjulhållarna, som är styvare än de på Audi A3 och S3, absorberar de ökade sidokrafter som torque splittern ger upphov till. Den negativa cambervinkeln är här nästan en halv grad större jämfört med den på A3. Den RS-specifika progressiva styrningen varierar utväxlingsförhållandet beroende på styrvinkeln; i takt med att styrvinkeln ökar, minskar utväxlingsförhållandet och styrningen blir mer direkt. Den progressiva styrningen ger också olika stöd beroende på hastigheten och kan ställas in via Audi drive select. Både fjädring och dämpning har en uttalat styv karaktär, och karossen ligger 10 mm lägre än på S3 och 25 mm lägre än på A3.

Nya RS 3 är den första Audi-modellen med torque splitter som standard. Momentfördelaren ersätter bakaxeldifferentialen och lamellkopplingspaketet som tidigare satt på bakaxeln. På RS 3 används istället en elektroniskt styrd lamellkoppling på drivaxeln som fördelar motorns drivkraft optimalt mellan hjulen på bakaxeln. Vid sportig körning ökar splittern drivmomentet på det yttre bakhjulet har högst belastning vid kurvtagning, vilket avsevärt minskar tendensen till understyrning. I vänsterkurvor fördelas drivkraften till höger bakhjul, i högerkurvor till vänster bakhjul och vid körning rakt fram till båda bakhjulen.

Motorkraften överförs till vägen via en 7-stegad dubbelkopplingsväxellåda som har ett sportigare utväxlingsförhållande och kortar växlingstiderna. Den 5-cylindriga motorns unika tändföljd (1-2-4-5-3) och det ojämförliga ljud den ger upphov till, tar körupplevelsen till ny nivå. För första gången är avgassystemet försett med helt variabla klaffar som även har mellanlägen, vilket gör ljudkarakteristiken ännu mer dynamisk. Klaffarna kan justeras via kördynamiksystemet Audi drive select. I körlägena Dynamic och RS Performance öppnas t.ex. klaffarna mycket tidigare, vilket ger det maffiga ljudet ännu mer njutbart. Med ett RS sportavgassystem (tillval), fulländar man det omisskännliga ljudet från den 5-cylindriga motorn.

Nya Audi RS 3 finns beställbar i två exklusiva RS-färger: kyalamigrön och kemoragrå. För sedanversionen kan man nu för första gången få taket lackerat i kontrastfärgen brilliantsvart. RS-specifika exteriördetaljer, t.ex. single frame-grillen, är som standard lackerade i svart, med matt eller högblank finish. Som tillval erbjuds även optikpaket Aluminium som lyfter fram den främre stötfångaren, diffusorinsatsen och rutlisterna lite extra. Den som vill ge RS 3 en ännu sportigare look, kan välja kolfiberarmerade tröskellister. Även backspegelkåporna, bakluckespoilern på sedanversionen och takkantspoilern på Sportback kan smyckas med detta material.Den mobila laddstationen i Sveg underlättade för många fjällresenärer under sportlovsresan. Totalt laddade ca 750 bilar vid laddstationen som sattes upp i ett samarbete mellan Audi, SkiStar, Jämtkraft och Mer för att bidra till mer hållbar fjällturism.

En annan nyhet för RS 3 är mVDC (modular Vehicle Dynamics Controller). Det centrala systemet samlar in data från alla komponenter som är inblandade i den laterala dynamiken, och ser på så sätt till att de interagerar med varandra på ett snabbare och mer precist sätt. mVDC synkroniserar torque splittern, de adaptiva stötdämparna och den hjulspecifika momentfördelningen och gör på så sätt styrningen och vägegenskaperna mer precisa. Sammantaget gör det bilen ännu mer agil, speciellt på kurviga vägar.
Audi A6 och Audi A7 går in i modellåret 2024 med ett distinkt och exklusivt utseende. Modellerna får nu fler interiör- och exteriörfärger, ny fälgdesign och uppgraderad standardutrustning. Nya digitala Appstore ger även direkt access till en mängd tredjepartsappar med bl.a. Spotify via bilens MMI-system. Modellprogrammet renodlas dessutom och quattro är standard på alla modeller på den svenska marknaden. De uppdaterade versionerna av Audi A6 och Audi A7 kan beställas från och med den 15 juni.

RS 3 är som standard utrustad med en 3-ekrad, läderklädd RS-multifunktionssportratt som är avplanad nedtill. Ratten är försedd med högklassiga växlingspaddlar i gjuten zink. Väljer man Design-paketet får man förutom RS-märket också ett indikeringsstreck placerat kl. 12 på ratten för att snabbare kunna se rattutslaget när man kör sportigt. Alternativt kan man välja en helt rund RS-ratt som också är beröringskänslig (kapacitiv avkänning av rattgreppet) för styrassistansfunktioner. Båda rattarna har en knapp för det nya RS-körläget på den högra rattekern, där föraren kan välja mellan Audi drive select-lägena RS Performance, RS Individual eller senast använda läge. The S3’s cabin is nearly identical to the new A3’s but adds some racier styling elements such as sport seats with quilted leather inserts and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The S3 uses the same toggle-switch gear selector as the A3 as well. Audi offers the S3 with a more comprehensive set of standard features, though, including a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, and illuminated door jamb scuff plates. Passenger space is slightly more generous than in the previous-gen S3, but the new car’s trunk is smaller.
Audi’s smallest offering, the A3 sedan, looks and drives great, and the 2023 S3 improves on that solid basis with a hotter 306-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a suspension tuned for more fun. A sports sedan of this size fits into a narrow niche, but enthusiast drivers will find plenty to love about the S3, even when compared to rivals such as the BMW M235i Gran Coupe, the Cadillac CT4-V, and the Mercedes-AMG CLA35. Like the regular A3, the S3 wears a youthful-but-premium appearance and has an interior that’s crammed with thoughtful tech. Our favorite thing about the S3 is the way it drives, as its fun-to-drive factor is high and its acceleration is impressive, despite some turbo lag. Considering the S3’s relatively affordable starting price, it provides an impressive combination of luxury and performance. Those who want even more power will gravitate more toward the raucous RS3, which we review separately.

The Premium Plus trim will satisfy the widest swath of buyers. This mid-range model adds driver-assistance features such as lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control, but also includes features such as memory settings for the driver’s seat, wireless smartphone charging, and more.
The new S3 comes with the same standard warranty as the rest of the Audi lineup, which includes coverage on the vehicle’s powertrain and a bumper-to-bumper policy that spans four years or 50,000 miles.

Are Audi S3 engines reliable?
Although the S3 didn’t figure as a standalone car in our most recent reliability survey, the A3 on which it’s based did, and it finished 16th out of 25 cars in the family car class with an overall score of 98%. Audi as a brand finished in 18th place out of 30 manufacturers in our most recent reliability survey.
All S3 models come with a 306-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. During our initial test drive, we praised the S3’s lithe handling and found its powertrain to be perky, eager, and sonorous. We did note that the heavy steering in the S3 lacks feedback and that there’s considerable turbo lag when driving in the less frenzied Comfort driving mode. At our test track, the S3 bolted to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and covered the quarter-mile in 12.9-seconds at 108 mph.Like most Audis, the S3 comes standard with several driver-assistance features; more advanced technology is optional. The EPA estimates that the S3 is good for 23 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, which makes it more efficient than the CLA35 and right on track with the M235i Gran Coupe. The S3 comes with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.3-inch digital gauge display. The screens run Audi’s latest MMI software interface and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as standard. Buyers of the mid-range Premium Plus trim can opt for the Technology package, which adds a larger 12.3-inch digital gauge display, in-dash navigation, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system. The top-of-the-line Prestige model gets all those same features as standard equipment.Audi has made only minor changes to the S3 for 2023. The base Premium trim can now be outfitted with adaptive cruise control, and a wireless smartphone charging pad is now part of the optional Convenience package.

The materials used are all first-rate, and every control is in the best position for the driver. We’d argue that the Mercedes-AMG A 35 and Audi S3 have more eye-catching interiors, and both of those use great materials too. The Golf R is also available as an estate, while the S3 comes as a hatchback or saloon – the latter gets a slightly bigger boot but a smaller boot opening. If practicality is of particular importance, the three cars mentioned here have also spawned SUV versions – the same powertrains are fitted in the Volkswagen T-Roc R, Audi SQ2 and BMW X2 M35i respectively. Both the M135i and S3 get a headstart because the interiors of the standard BMW 1 Series and Audi A3 are so good. The Golf R isn’t quite as good inside; the sporty touches are welcome but the infotainment system and touch-sensitive buttons are difficult to operate, leaving a lot to be desired. Volkswagen’s drive to make the Golf more modern-feeling has just made it worse to use, and it looks especially lacking when compared to the S3’s cabin. It’s a little surprising that the Golf R misses out on heated seats and a reversing camera, too.This question depends on what you value most from your hot hatchback. The Audi S3 perhaps has the best interior, while the Golf R is better to drive and can be made more exciting with options – although a few too many luxuries are extra cost options. Overall, we’d pick the Golf R over the S3, but you should test-drive both (and perhaps the Cupra Leon) before making your choice.

The BMW M135i, though, is curiously short on excitement. It’s very fast, but leaves you feeling slightly detached from the action while driving. It’s especially disappointing given how enticing the old BMW M135i and M140i models were, as their rear-wheel drive chassis was a unique selling point. The new M135i now has four-wheel drive and is arguably worse off for it. The old cars also had a much better-sounding 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine when compared to the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder. Check out the slightly less powerful BMW 128ti; it’s front-wheel drive but we find it more engaging to drive.But this trio, the Volkswagen Golf R, Audi S3 and BMW M135i, are a more traditional take on the rapid hot hatch recipe. Each has power and speed in abundance, a practical hatchback body style, interiors stuffed with technology and go-faster styling. All use powerful petrol engines, an automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive, but each one offers a different driving experience.

The hot hatchback market has never been so varied as it is now. Whether you want 113bhp or 415bhp, there’s a car to suit you. Petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and electric hot hatches are now available, while buyers may also be drawn to hot SUVs like the Hyundai Kona N or the Ford Puma ST.

Many Golf R buyers are likely to add the optional Performance Pack and the adaptive suspension setup; this adds a drift mode setting and a higher top speed, while also giving it a sportier styling makeover to set it apart from a regular Golf R-Line.While the numbers are all well and good, a hot hatchback should excite its driver. That’s why we let the Honda Civic Type R off for its firm ride and clunky infotainment system. The Golf R is perhaps the most engaging car here, with the S3 not far behind. Neither offer much steering feel, but both have well-weighted steering that gives you confidence to drive fast. VW and Audi’s four-wheel-drive system is also very impressive.

As such, all three can get from 0-62mph in under five seconds. The Golf R gets the bragging rights; its 4.7-second time is a tenth quicker than the S3 and M135i can manage, not that you’ll notice that in day-to-day driving.
