Seattle, WA is famous for many things. Sunlight is not one of them. Yet illumination and warmth suffuse the self-titled debut from Emerald City quintet Grand Archives. Dark times do not necessarily call for dark music. And, while singer/guitarist Mat Brooke”s previous ensembles – Band of Horses, Carissa”s Wierd – often shied away from light, he has changed direction with this band. To be clear, The Grand Archives is not escapist bullshit. But like the timeless classics of the Mamas & the Papas or the Turtles, it responds to the turbulent times of its genesis with hope, high spirits, and a sense of camaraderie. Brooke started Grand Archives with a trio of friends in September, 2006. Drummer Curtis Hall (the Jeunes), bassist Jeff Montano (the New Mexicans), and guitarist/keyboard player Ron Lewis (Ghost Stories) shared his desire to make great pop, rather than curse the darkness; guitarist Thomas Wright signed on soon after. At their first show, Grand Archives were bottom band on a mid-week bill. They played five songs. Next time they performed, it was supporting Modest Mouse at Seattle”s historic Paramount Theater. So much for baby steps. ”We definitely dove in the deep end,” concedes Brooke. But their expectations are modest. Grand Archives want little more than to tour the world, occasionally crash in a motel with soft towels, and, most importantly, find receptive listeners for their music. A reasonable goal. And it will be met. Vitamin D supplements, tanning beds, and Caribbean vacations only provide temporary solutions; the radiance of The Grand Archives glows brightly year-round. TRACKLISTING: 01. Problemen för DJs och MCs att få spelningar i USA och Europa togs upp och publicisten Jerome Hamilton sa enligt Jamaican-gleaner.com, att deejays spelar vad publiken vill höra, ”medan internationella påtryckningar kan tvinga musiken att förändras, ligger homofobins hjärta i den jamaicanska befolkningen”. Projektledaren Ronny Burke menade vid debatten att även om deejays kan vara ”budbärare” för den existerande kulturen, är varje individ ansvarig för skapandet av den. ”Vi skapar denna kultur, det är inget som bara händer oss”.

The grass meadow pitches creepy creepy crawlies. The proprietors were nice and welcoming and kept the toilets clean. Views were nice and walking distance to the pub.
Loved loved loved this campsite! Peaceful pitches in a gorgeous location. Great communication by the owners and easy to find. Immaculately clean toilets and showers and lovely touches such as seating and pots of flowers. Would definitely visit again and highly recommend.The simple, rustic quality but still having some facilities. Showers good, compost toilets fine (although people seem incapable of following simple instructions!) A small site but with adequate space between pitches. Lovely to have camp fires and sensible prices to purchase wood/kindling etc. Set in a good area for walking and cycling, Steyning seemed nice but we just walked through on our way onto the Downs. Good to be able to take the dog – one suggestion would be to have some hooks on the fence near the toilets so you can attach the lead when you need a wee and don’t want to leave the dog on your pitch alone but that’s a very small thing. Altogether, a very nice site and we enjoyed our stay.
Looking for a peaceful stay on the edge of the South Downs National Park? Touch down at Kings Barn Camping. A small rural site on a working farm with a small stream and splendid scenery over the South Downs, this is really a rather relaxed escape that’s also 10 minutes’ drive away from the coast.
Let the friendly faces point you in the direction of the South Downs Way and the Downs Link route, which are very nearby. When you fancy eating out, it’s a straightforward walk or short drive to shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs in Steyning or Bramber, both five minutes’ drive away. If you’re after a bit more choice, there are lots of varied eats in Brighton, under half an hour’s drive away.Only improvement I could think of is to have a separate tap for water would be useful especially if the 2 sinks are occupied. Other than that, they people have nailed it ! Those who care about preserving the planet will surely love the fact that this site also plays its part in caring for the environment and aims for sustainability. As a nod to that, there are four composting loos on site (with little luxury touches so you won’t miss the flush…) When you want to wash off the scent of the campfire, there are two heated showers on site, and there’s also a washing-up area provided. On top of that, wheelbarrows are available to help you ferry your kit between your vehicle and the pitch (parking is a short distance away).
