Det som nog är mitt favoritexempel när det gäller uppvisningar av ethos kommer från Göran Persson. Det var år 1998 i en debatt mot Carl Bildt som han helt och hållet pulveriserade dennes ethos. Han inleder med att skapa en bild av Carl Bildt som en intellektuell överklass som gärna får tala om den stora fina världen, it och flygplan men gör det väldigt tydligt genom att rakt och utan krusiduller förklara för honom att, klasssamhället, det pratar du inte om.
I debatter är det vanligt att man försöker angripa motståndarens trovärdighet. Ibland via personangrepp, så kallade Ad Hominem och ibland via andra metoder. Att påpeka att en undersökning visar att motståndaren har fel i sak kan vara ett effektivt sätt att sänka dennes ethos men det kan också framställa en själv som en högtravande besserwisser.Ethos: är inget renodlat retoriskt grepp utan det är snarare än komponent i all retorik. The talk is entitled \”Politics and Ethos,\” but as you\u2019ll hear, McKenna forsakes those topics quickly in favor of a more robust discussion that includes shamanism, synesthesia, paranormal phenomena, climatology, astronomy, renaissance humanism, and telepathy– all of this subsumed within the discourse of the psychedelic experience.
In this episode, we dive deep into the idea that inner transformation can serve as a useful and effective catalyst for societal change.
